UPDATED - SUSPECT IDENTIFIED & ARRESTED - REHOBOTH POLICE SEEK TO ID ROBBERY SUSPECT

Update:

With the assistance of the public, the Rehoboth Beach Police have identified the suspect in this case as Ronald J. Phelan, 54, of Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Based on a tip, Rehoboth Beach Police were able to identifiy and located Phelan on Wednesday (09/27/17) morning.  Investigators were unable to identify or confirm the theft of any merchandise in this case; however, Phelan was arrested for assaulting the store clerk.

Phelan was charged with 1 count of felony second degree assault.  Phelan was released on $5000.00 unsecured bail.

Prior Release:

Rehoboth Police asking for the public’s assistance to help identify a robbery suspect. 

On Saturday, September 16th, 2017, at around 1:30pm, the suspect pictured entered a store located in the first block of Rehoboth Avenue, removed jewelry from display, and left the store.  When confronted by the store clerk, a 78 year old male, the suspect responded by punching him in the face causing a minor laceration.    

The stolen merchandise is valued at under $100.00.
