The City of Rehoboth Beach offers seasonal positions with the Rehoboth Beach Patrol and in its parking, parks, police, and streets departments. Applications for seasonal job openings are accepted beginning in January of each year until all positions are filled.

Police Department

Streets Department

Laborer/CDL driver

The Streets Department hires seasonal (April-October) full- and part-time laborers (starting salary $16/hour) and CDL drivers (starting salary $17/hour). Positions require shifts and weekend work. The position requires semi-skilled and manual labor, including operation of trash trucks, pickups, and other equipment to clean and maintain municipal streets, beaches, and other public areas. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds; work outside for extended periods with exposure to heat, noise, odors, and inclement weather conditions. Must be at least 18 years of age. A valid driver’s license is required; CDL preferred. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening test, physical examination, and background investigation.

Parks Department

Landscape Maintenance Worker

Seasonal (March-October) landscape/lawn care workers are needed on a full- or part-time basis (2-5 days/week). The position requires an independent worker who enjoys working outside performing a variety of landscape and maintenance tasks. Duties include landscaping, general maintenance, weeding, mulching, pruning, and other related tasks as needed. Minimum qualifications: valid driver's license and ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Preferred qualifications: experience in landscape and/or general maintenance and  ability to use and maintain small power equipment and hand tools. Starting wage is $15/hour.

Parking Department - Seasonal Positions

Office Clerk

Starting salary: $16.50/hour. Parking Department office clerks are responsible for entering customer and account data from source documents - data entry skills are a must. Responsible for assisting in daily operations of the department, including receptionist duties, handling visitor questions and concerns, radio communications, daily audits, and other duties as assigned. Work during day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.

Parking Attendant - Permit Sales

Starting salary: $16.25/hour. Parking attendants are responsible for selling daily, weekly, and seasonal parking permits for non-metered areas of the city. Parking attendants handle visitor questions and concerns, collect and track revenue, and maintain an accurate accounting of inventory. Work during day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.

Parking Meter/Permit Enforcement

Starting salary: $16.25/hour. Parking enforcement officers are responsible for patrolling designated areas of the city - on foot, by car, or by bicycle - for parking violations. Enforcement officers issue parking citations and handle visitor questions and concerns. This position requires the use of handheld devices, such as a smart phone or tablet, and a valid driver’s license. Work during day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.

Parking Meter Technician

Starting salary: $16.25/hour. Parking meter technicians are responsible for repairing and replacing components of parking meters, performing time verification tests on meters, collecting revenue, maintaining change machines, handling visitor questions and concerns, and assisting in street sign placement. Work during day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays is required. 

Beach Parking Attendant

Starting salary: $16.25/hour. Beach parking attendants are responsible for collecting parking fees, maintaining the flow of traffic, and overseeing daily operations of the Deauville Beach Parking Lot. Work during day/night shifts, weekends, and holidays is required.

Streets Assistant/Painter

Part-time Monday-Friday. Starting salary: $16.25/hour. Responsible for painting city crosswalks, curbs, parking lines, and other street/walkway markings. Assists in installing posts and signage as requested by the division supervisor. Keeps all equipment clean and in good operating condition, including, but not limited to, paint machines, hand tools, thermoplastic torch/propane cylinders, and other equipment necessary for the job. Assists division supervisor with other work orders as requested.

Rehoboth Beach Patrol

Tryouts for the 2022 summer season have been scheduled for the dates below. Interested individuals should download, print, complete, and bring applications with them to one of the scheduled tryouts:

  • March 5 and April 2: 10 am at the track at Lake Forest High School, 5407 Killen’s Pond Road, Felton
  • March 12: 10 am at St. Andrew’s Aquatic Center, 350 Noxontown Road, Middleton
  • March 19: 11 am at the rear pool entrance parking lot at Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences, 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown.
