Annual tree-pruning work underway

Feb 03, 2023

A city contractor will begin pruning city trees the week of February 6. Work is scheduled at Grove Park Monday and Tuesday. The park will remain open to the public. In addition to pruning trees, the contractor will remove one large hazard tree and a few small trees that are dying.

Later in the week, street trees along the first three blocks of Rehoboth and Baltimore avenues will be pruned to provide clearance over streets and sidewalks and to maintain the health of city trees.

Also, in February and beyond:

  • The walkway to the small pavilion at Grove Park will be replaced, likely the second week of the month.
  • The playground areas at Grove and Stockley Street parks and the swing set at Lake Gerar are scheduled to be re-mulched February 21 and 22. This work may require that the playgrounds be closed for brief periods of time. The Lake Gerar Tot Lot will remain open.
  • Water fountain replacement and concrete work at Grove Park will be scheduled after replacement materials are received.
