Work to impact roadways this week

Jul 19, 2021

DelDOT inspections of the bridge over the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal and sewer line cleaning will bring traffic impacts this week and next.

Daytime and nighttime lane closures will be implemented while DelDOT inspects the bridge over the canal. From 9 am-3 pm tomorrow and Wednesday, July 20 and 21, expect alternating one-way traffic on Roosevelt Street, between Jefferson and Lee streets (under Route 1), and on Oyster House Road (under Route 1). Flaggers will be onsite to direct motorists.

On Tuesday and Wednesday next week, July 27 and 28, overnight from 9 pm-5 am, alternating single right-lane closures on Route 1, both north and southbound, will be implemented between Bay Vista and Bay roads.

All work is weather dependent, and July 29 has been designated as a rain date. Please be aware that bridge personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes, and motorists are requested to travel through work zones slowly.

In addition, City wastewater employees will be cleaning and conducting video assessments of sewers lines on Wednesday, July 21, on:

  • Olive Avenue from 1st street to the boardwalk
  • Stockley Street extension from State Road to School Lane
  • Scarborough Avenue extension from Route 1 to the street end.

Streets will remain open, but intermittent detours around equipment may be necessary. Work will begin on Olive Avenue at 8 am.

Also on Olive Street, a residential facility will be undertaking fire protection system repairs next week in the ocean block. Intermittent detours should be expected tomorrow and Wednesday.
