Kevin T. Boyer, 43, of Rehoboth, Del. was arrested Wednesday (08/15/18) afternoon for a theft committed in July while employed at a local restaurant in Rehoboth Beach and officers discovered that his sex offender registry information had not been properly updated.

On July 19th, 2018 at 5:45pm, Rehoboth Police were called to the Greene Turtle where an employee reported he had had cash money stolen out of an unattended wallet.  Investigating officers utilized video to identify Boyer, a fellow employee, as the individual responsible for the theft.   Boyer was not present at the time of the investigation; therefore, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On August 15th, 2018, when Boyer showed up for a separate scheduled court appearance he was taken into custody.  During the investigation, officers learned that Boyer’s employment at the Greene Turtle had been terminated and he had obtained employment elsewhere.  Boyer, a Tier 2 registered sex offender, failed to update his employment information with the Delaware Sex Offender Central Registry within 3 days per Delaware state law.

Boyer was arrested and charged with 1 count of failure to re-register as a sex offender, a felony, and 1 count of misdemeanor theft under $1500.

Boyer was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $3000.00 secured bail.

Release by PIO Lt. Jaime Riddle.
