May 14, 2018

On Saturday afternoon (05/12/18) officers from the Rehoboth Beach Police Department responded to a personal injury accident in which a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of King Charles Avenue and Hickman Street.

At around 2:30pm, Jack Sampson, 33, of Rehoboth Beach, Del. was driving a 2002 Honda Motorcycle north on King Charles Avenue approaching Hickman Street.  At the same time, Bradley Wright, 40, of Sterling, Va. was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer west on Hickman Street approaching the stop sign at King Charles Avenue. Wright failed to remain stopped at the stop sign and entered the roadway of King Charles Avenue as Sampson was passing through the intersection.  As a result, the front of Wright’s Trailblazer struck the right side of Sampson and his motorcycle ejecting him into the roadway.

As a result of the collision, Sampson was transported from the scene to Beebe Medical Campus for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Wright, who was not injured during the collision, was issued a traffic citation for failing to remain stopped at a stop sign.
