Rehoboth Beach dispatcher receives ED-Q certification from International Academies of Emergency Dispatch

May 03, 2018

Greg Tietmeyer, a dispatcher with the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, recently received an ED-Q certification from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED). To be certified, Tietmeyer met eligibility requirements which included a combination of experience, education and professional development in the 911 field. Tietmeyer then passed a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the comprehensive knowledge base required by the program. The ED-Q certification was established by the IAED as a benchmark of the performance of professionals in the 911 field. The certification is the cornerstone of quality assurance for centers using the Priority Dispatch System for all medical, fire, and police protocols. Using state-of-the-art instructor-led multimedia learning technology, this intensive training program provides staff with the tools and understanding to properly evaluate and score the elements of the Priority Dispatch System. “This certification attests to the specific and highly specialized knowledge, skills, and attributes of emergency dispatchers. It is an objective, measurable process for determining and validating the competency of individuals serving as lifelines to people needing emergency services,” said Center Manager Tammy Ketterman. “Greg’s certification has far-reaching benefits. It promotes continuing excellence. We are very proud of Greg and his commitment to his profession and to lifelong learning.”
