to Protect America’s Children, sponsored by the Beau Biden Foundation. Scisco spoke about “Building Comprehensive School Safety Plans and Planning for Reunification and Recovery” at the conference. Scisco addressed school safety policies as well as the importance of drilling with students and staff and providing feedback that enhances those plans. He also attended several sessions related to social media safety.

Law enforcement and school personnel, attorneys, faith leaders, and youth advocates were among the several hundred professionals who attended the three-day conference.

Also during the last week of June, Communications Specialist II Dustin Crago participated in the Delaware State Police’s Delaware Civilian Leadership Development program.

The program, Crago says, covered a variety of topics, including equity theory, group cohesion, communications skills, intergroup conflict, and organizational culture. “They really get you out of your comfort zone,” Crago notes, adding that this was the first time in many years that he had to deal with three hours of homework each night.

Crago is grateful to have had an opportunity to participate in the weeklong program, adding, “It made me look at myself and re-evaluate myself. I learned that the definition of leadership can constantly change depending on the demands of the situation.”
