On Sunday at around 12:30am a Rehoboth Beach Police Officer was in his patrol car at the intersection of Rehoboth Avenue and Second Street when he saw two men on the sidewalk in front of the Conch Island Key West Bar & Grill pushing each other.  The officer then observed one of the men, later identified as James Boone, punch the other man in the face knocking him to the ground.

After witnessing the assault, the officer utilized his emergency equipment to respond to the area of the fight. As he was exiting his vehicle, both James and Andrew Boone, who are brothers, ran from the officer South on Second Street despite his ordering them to stop.  The Boone brothers continued to run through the parking lot of the Cape Henlopen Senior Center and onto Christian Street.  The brothers eventually split apart and Andrew Boone was able to avoid capture while James Boone was apprehended after unsuccessfully attempting to jump a fence in a nearby yard.

Both were examined by EMT’s and neither required transport to the hospital.
