The Rehoboth Beach Police Department is issuing a crime advisement in regards to a recent string of counterfeit money incidents responsible for costing local retail businesses along the Boardwalk and Rehoboth Avenue corridors hundreds of dollars in monetary loss.
On Saturday, August 25th, 2018, officers responded to multiple retail stores located along the Boardwalk and in the first block of Rehoboth Avenue as retailers discovered that they had conducted transactions and received counterfeit one hundred dollar bills. It was reported to investigating officers that two black male suspects were responsible for the counterfeit crimes. Video surveillance was recently obtained that shows the suspects and police are asking the public for assistance in identifying the two males in the photo provided.
Rehoboth Beach Police are asking local businesses to be aware of these recent counterfeit incidents and to check all large bills for fraud. Retailers are asked to familiarize themselves with the photo provided of the actual counterfeit bill that was passed in each of the counterfeit incidents. The serial number of the bill used in each of the incidents is identical. In some of the incidents a counterfeit detection pen was utilized and did not work.

Anyone having contact with the suspects is asked to immediately call 911.
