Rehoboth Police Arrest Woman for Attempted Theft

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 at approximately 4:15 p.m. a Rehoboth Beach Police Officer on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle observed Gina L. Sautter, 44 of Rehoboth in the area of Wilmington Avenue and First Street acting in a suspicious manner.  The officer parked his vehicle on the opposite corner of the roadway to maintain surveillance on the subject.  After a short period of time, Sautter was observed lifting the rear coin cover of a Cape Gazette newspaper box and placing her hand into the coin area in an attempt to remove coins.  Sautter, who was released from Baylor Women's Correctional Institute one day prior, was taken into custody without incident and charged with attempted theft.  Sautter was released after a relative posted a $500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in the Court of Common Pleas at a later date.   Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Lt.
