Rehoboth Police Arrest Lewes Man For Role in Smash and Grab

Rehoboth Beach Police arrested Dale S. Carter, 51 of Lewes for his role in a smash and grab theft from a vehicle that occurred in the Rehoboth Beach Shopping Center  on January 17th.  Carter was identified as the operator of the silver vehicle in the surveillance footage obtained from the Lewes Wawa. During the course of investigation it was determined that Carter utilized a stolen credit card from the smash and grab to purchase gas from the location for a female subject also identified in the surveillance footage.  Carter was charged with Identity Theft, Unlawful use of a Credit Card and Receiving Stolen Property.  Carter was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute  in default of $10,000 secured bond.  The investigation is still ongoing and additional arrests are forthcoming.  Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to call Lt.
