On Thursday, March 3rd, 2016, Craig E. Beckett, 50, of Rehoboth, Del. was charged with misdemeanor theft after an investigation revealed that he stole the West Rehoboth Children and Youth donation box off the counter of the 7-Eleven located in the 500 block of Rehoboth Avenue.

On Wednesday at around 10:45am the Rehoboth Beach Police Department was contacted by an employee of the 7-Eleven who reported that the West Rehoboth Children and Youth donation box had been stolen off the store counter.  The responding officer was able to review surveillance video of the incident which was determined to have occurred on Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at around 7:30pm.  The video showed a black male suspect wearing a Green Bay Packers jacket approach the counter and when the clerk was not looking place the donation box under his jacket and exit the store.  The black male in the video was identified as Beckett by an anonymous third party.

Rehoboth Beach Police Officers were able to locate Beckett at his place of employment in Lewes, Del. on Thursday at around 8:00am.  Beckett was taken into custody without incident.  When taken into custody Beckett asked the officers if he could have his jacket which a co-worker handed to him.  The jacket was a Green Bay Packers jacket.  Subsequent to his arrest Beckett consented to an interview during which he confessed to taking the donation box.

Beckett was arrested and charged with 1 count of theft under $1500.00. Beckett was arraigned via videophone out of the Justice of the Peace Court 2, issued a $500.00 unsecured bail and released.  A no contact order was issued between Beckett and the 7-Eleven.
