POLICE SEEK INFORMATION - REHOBOTH WOMAN ROBBED AND THROWN FROM VEHICLE DURING GET AWAY

Jun 19, 2016

Rehoboth Beach Police are seeking information as to the identity of two suspects responsible for robbing a Rehoboth Beach woman of her purse and throwing her from their moving vehicle as they fled the 300 block of State Road Saturday night.

At around 10:40pm, Rehoboth Beach police were dispatch to the area of State Road and Hickman Street for a report of a strong armed robbery during which the female victim had been struck by a vehicle.  Upon arrival on scene, officers learned that a 26 year old white female was approached by a black male suspect while walking South on State Road in the area of Hickman Street.  The male suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and after a brief struggle was able to take it away from her and flee to a silver Toyota Camary operated by a white female driver.  As the vehicle stopped in the southbound lane of State Road to pick up the male suspect, the victim, in an attempt to stop the suspects, reached into the car in an effort to turn it off and take the keys.  The driver drove off causing the victim to be thrown to the asphalt roadway.

As a result, the victim sustained multiple abrasions to her shoulder blades, elbow, ankle, and hand. The robber was able to steal the victim’s purse, which contained her driver’s license, cash, credit and debit cards.

The black male suspect is described as having an average build with short hair in his mid 30’s to early 40’s and being 5 foot 11 to 6 foot 1 inches tall.  The black male suspect was reportedly wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a pocket on the front and pants at the time of the robbery.

The white female suspect is described as having an average build with long brown hair in her mid 20’s to early 30’s.  The height of the driver and her clothing description is unknown as she was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle during the incident.

The female suspect was reportedly operating a silver Toyota Camary with a white paper temporary registration from an unknown state.  The vehicle was last seen by witnesses northbound on State Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach in the area of the Kmart.
