LEWES WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER PUNCHING OFFICER

Jordyn R. Miller, 19, of Lewes, Del. was charged with offensive touching of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest Thursday (06/28/18) evening after police were called to Grotto’s Pizza located on the Boardwalk at Baltimore Avenue for a report of a disorderly person who was refusing to leave.

At around 7:00pm, Rehoboth Beach Police contacted the manager who advised them that Miller, a former employee, had returned to the restaurant in search of her property.  When Miller was advised that the property was not there, she became belligerent with the manger yelling profanity and threats in front of patrons. 

An officer located Miller outside the restaurant and attempted to take her into custody.  While in the process of doing so, Miller punched the officer in the side of his head.  With the assistance of a second officer, Miller was eventually handcuffed. 

Subsequent to her arrest, Miller and belongings were search at which time she was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana consistent with personal use.

Miller was arrested and charged with 1 count of felony resisting arrest with force or violence, 1 count of offensive touching of a law enforcement officer, 1 count of disorderly conduct, 1 count of third degree criminal trespassing, and 1 count of possession of marijuana of a personal use quantity, a civil offense.

Miller was released on $3126.00 unsecured bail.

The officer who was assaulted during the incident was treated and released from Beebe Health Campus.
