Bruce M. Trolley, 47, of Lewes, Del. was arrested Monday evening for driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest as a result of a traffic stop conducted along Rehoboth Avenue.

On February 17th, 2020 just after 10pm, a Rehoboth Beach Police officer observed Trolley operating a white Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan westbound on Rehoboth Avenue.  The officer conducted a routine registration check of Trolley’s vehicle and discovered that the vehicle’s registration was expired.  In the process of pulling Trolley over, the officer observed patterns of driving indicative of a possible intoxicated motorist.

Upon approaching the vehicle and making contact with Trolley, the officer observed that he showed signs of intoxication.  Subsequently, Trolley was administered standardized field sobriety tests and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.  Trolley, who was placed in handcuffs, refused to get into the back of the officer’s patrol car when instructed to do so.  Despite being given repeated instructions to cooperate, officers were forced to physically place Trolley into the rear of the patrol car.  Trolley was transported to Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware for additional testing.

Neither the officers involved nor Trolley were injured as a result of his resistance.

Trolley was arrested and charged with 1 count of misdemeanor resisting arrest and multiple traffic offenses to include; 1 count of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 1 count of failure to have insurance identification in possession, and 1 count of expired registration.

Trolley was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $1,101.00 secured bail.
