On Tuesday, January 19th, 2016 at 12:14PM officers from the Rehoboth Beach Police Department responded to the second block of Pennsylvania Avenue to assist the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company with a working house fire.

Upon arrival officers found the residence to be fully engulfed in flames.  Responding officers reported that they could feel the heat from the fire upon arrival prior to exiting their vehicles.  Officers assisted the fire department by evacuating surrounding residences and blocking off surrounding streets.

Due to the quick response of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department the blaze was quickly contained and the damage was limited to one residence.  The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company was assisted by both the Lewes and Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Companies.

This was the second house fire within the city in less than 24 hours. The other was on Bayard Avenue. No criminal activity is suspected as the cause of either fire.
