Fire Hydrant Painting Begins October 1, 2016

Sep 21, 2016

The City of Rehoboth Beach has hired Corrosion Control, a contractor headquartered in Pedricktown, New Jersey, to paint 229 fire hydrants around the city. The start date for this project is October 1, 2016. This round of painting consists of removing the old paint, cleaning the hydrants down to the metal and adding a new coat of yellow paint. The paint removal will look similar to sand blasting but is not as dusty. The hydrants will be fully contained during the painting process. The hydrants located in the higher traffic areas will be painted first followed by the residential areas. Work will be performed Monday through Friday during normal business hours. The completion date for painting is estimated by the end of the year and is weather dependent. Pedestrians should use caution in areas where work is being performed. For any questions or concerns, please contact the City of Rehoboth Beach Communications Department at 302-227-2772 or email [email protected].
