The City of Rehoboth Beach is accepting applications for seasonal (summer) employment with the Parking Department.
Parking Enforcement Officer: Responsibilities include enforcement of the City of Rehoboth parking rules, regulations and ordinances in an assigned area while driving a parking enforcement car, riding a bicycle, or walking on foot.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Patrolling designated areas and issuing citations and warnings for non-compliance of parking rules and regulations
• Assist the public in understanding parking meter and parking permit operations and policies
• Assist in the collections and security of all monies received through parking meters
• Assist with parking permit sales
• Other related duties as assigned
**Please note – Enforcement Officers are not sworn police officers and have no arresting authority**
Qualification Requirements:
• Must possess customer service skills and present themselves in a professional demeaner
• Ability to use a handheld computer
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle or bicycle
• Ability to walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in favorable and unfavorable weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and exercise proper judgment and diplomacy in dealing with the public
• Must pass background check
• Must pass Drug Test
Availability to Work: Shift requirements include a combination of day, night and weekend hours including holidays.
License Requirement: The individual will be required to have and maintain a valid state-issued driver’s license with a current address and acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use their hands. Employees are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
Employees work in and around potentially dangerous traffic situations, and employees are always expected to be safety conscious.
