Snow emergency declaration begins at 6 pm Friday

The following is a CodeRed alert issued Thursday, January 27, by City Manager Sharon Lynn:

This is Rehoboth Beach City Manager Sharon Lynn with an important message regarding the impending winter storm that has been predicted by the National Weather Service (NWS).

As of the time of this broadcast, the storm is predicted to start Friday evening and continue throughout the night and into Saturday morning. The NWS modeling is still changing in both amounts of precipitation, wind strength and even direction. You should take precautions now and be prepared by ensuring emergency supplies are available.

City staff has been preparing for the storm and all hands will be on deck tomorrow and throughout the weekend if necessary. Additionally, a snow emergency declaration will take effect beginning tomorrow, Friday evening at 6 pm. The following streets are identified as snow emergency routes whereby parking will be prohibited: Rehoboth Avenue, State Road and Bayard Avenue.

Follow-up alerts will be broadcast as necessary and the communications department will be issuing email blasts, social media posts and posting to the city’s website. Please check these outlets often for more information.
