With the current warmer temperatures rain will be falling most of the daylight hours today. Temperatures will drop later into the evening on Saturday bringing mixed precipitation changing to all snow tonight into early Sunday with 1-2 inches of snow predicted in southern Sussex County including our area.

Most of the current concerns include continued windy conditions with strong gusts in excess of 60 mph especially along the coast. We have already seen some coastal flooding due to the high tides and a dune breach north of the Henlopen Hotel causing Surf Avenue to be closed in that area. City crews will be working throughout the day and night cleaning up downed tree limbs and other debris. Some fallen power lines are occurring in areas throughout the city however there are no reported power outages at this time.

Please be prepared and take precautions. Should you experience a power outage or if you need to report any downed wires please contact Delmarva Power at 800-898-8042

It is important to continue to monitor the forecast and local conditions through television, radio and Internet resources. It is recommended that you stay off of the roads especially into the evening hours as the temperatures start freezing making for hazardous conditions.

Weather conditions are expected to greatly improve throughout the day on Sunday.

Please call the Rehoboth Beach Police Department by dialing 9-1-1 for emergencies or 302-227-2577 for information.

Thank you and stay safe.
