Jeffery A. Startt, Jr., 33, of Smyrna, Del., was arrested just after midnight Monday for assaulting a female outside the Purple Parrot Grill located in the 100 block of Rehoboth Avenue.
On March 6th, 2017, just after midnight, the Rehoboth Beach Police were called to the Brighton Suites Hotel, located in the second block of Wilmington Avenue, for a report that a female had been assaulted. Upon arrival, the officers learned that the assault took place outside the Purple Parrot Grill. An on-scene investigation revealed that the victim, a 55 year old female, was engaged in a verbal altercation with Startt, who had been drinking. During the altercation Startt struck the victim in her mouth causing lacerations to the outside and inside of her lip.
Startt was arrested and charged with 1 count of third degree assault and 2 counts of disorderly conduct. All three charges were misdemeanors. Startt was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1000.00 secured bond.
