Rehoboth Mayor's Advisory Committee on Trees announces Anne Little as keynote speaker

Apr 19, 2017

On Tuesday, April 25, 2017, the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Trees (MACT) will be hosting Anne Little, Executive Director of Tree Fredericksburg from Fredericksburg, Virginia, who will share her experiences in working on urban forest issues. Ms. Little founded Tree Fredericksburg as a nonprofit organization in 2008 with her husband Carl. Tree Fredericksburg works closely with the City of Fredericksburg to realize their mission to restore and maintain a vibrant urban forest in the City of Fredericksburg.

Ms. Little has a long time interest in native plants and trees and has attended classes at Ginter Botanical Gardens, Bartlett Research Facility and many other symposiums and conferences. She is the owner of Through the Garden Gate, a native plant design and landscaping company. She also is Chair of the Fredericksburg Green Committee; Vice President of Trees Virginia; an advisory member of the CLEAR Group (Climate Action & Readiness) for Planning District 16, Secretary and co-founder of the Virginia Bluebird Society and a member of the Green Business Forum for the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband reside in downtown Fredericksburg and are thrilled to be able to give back to their community.

A portion of Ms. Little’s time will be spent sharing her group’s challenges and successes with other cities and towns in support of their urban tree programs. The general public and those interested in becoming more involved in preserving and perpetuating Rehoboth Beach’s distinctive tree canopy are invited to attend. Through her presentation and follow-up questions and answers, the MACT hopes to identify strategies that could be applied to their work with Rehoboth’s trees. The meeting will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company in the second-floor meeting room at 2 p.m.
