Daniel P. Sullivan, 42, of Dover, Del. was arrested Saturday evening after he allegedly strangled a 42 year old female victim inside a room at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center.

On February 29th, 2020 just after 9:30pm, Rehoboth Beach Police were called to the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center by another guest at the hotel who could hear the female victim screaming for help from inside her room.  Upon arrival, police were able to make entry to the room where they made contact with Sullivan and the female victim.  Police observed signs of a struggle inside the room.  Through an on scene investigation police determined that during an altercation, Sullivan attempted to impede the breathing of the victim by placing his hands and arm around her throat.

Sullivan was taken into custody and transported from the scene without incident.  Both the victim and Sullivan sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries as a result of the altercation.

Sullivan was arrested and charged with 1 counts of felony strangulation and 1 count of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.

Sullivan was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $6,100 secured cash bail.

Release by PIO Lt. Jaime Riddle.
