Construction set to begin on Second Street sidewalk

Oct 19, 2018

New infrastructure improvements are coming to Second Street in Rehoboth Beach. The Second Street Improvement Project includes the replacement of the sidewalk and curb ramps on the east side of Second Street between Baltimore and Maryland Avenues. The city’s project, supported by a $100,000 Community Transportation Fund grant, has long been a priority. The new sidewalk and curb ramps will significantly improve safety for all users. New sidewalk construction will begin at the end of October. During construction activity, lane closures and limited parking and access will occur. The contractor, Clean Cut Pavers, will make every effort to minimize inconvenience during the construction period. The actual construction period should be about 60 days. The work will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. City Manager Sharon Lynn stated, “The city strives to create a more walkable community that is inviting and a safe pedestrian experience along this heavily traveled corridor. Our citizens’ safety is our first priority. Through these repairs, we’re continuing to take proactive measures to make a more walkable community, improve property values, and to improve the overall safety of the city.” Your patience and cooperation during the project are much appreciated.
