VIA Conservation Committee donates tree to city

Mar 24, 2017

The Village Improvement Association (VIA)  has a long history of providing trees, shrubs, and flowers for the city and Lake Gerar for nearly 100 years. The VIA's Conservation Committee donated a black gum tree to the city with dedication on March 23, 2017. The committee worked closely with Liz Lingo, city arborist, to choose the right tree for the beach environment. The black gum tree serves as a late spring food source for bees. The foliage is exceptionally glossy summer to fall, with reliable autumn colors of red or a combo of green, orange and red. As the tree ages, the bark develops a dark gray block pattern which is pretty through the winter months. Please visit https://www.rehobothbeachvia.org/ for more information.
