Ellery L. Parker III, 38, of Georgetown, Del. was arrested Wednesday (10/09/19) evening for theft of a motor vehicle after citizens provided information about his identity in response to a recent public request for assistance.

On Monday (10/07/19) just after 3pm, the Rehoboth Beach Police Department requested the assistance of the community in identifying a man suspected of car theft over the weekend and our citizens responded.  As a result, Wednesday evening Parker, the man pictured in the previously released surveillance photo, was in custody and arrested.

Through investigative efforts police learned that Parker obtained the keys to a 2018 Ford F350 owned by a 42 year old Michigan man.  Then on Saturday, October 5th, sometime after 3am the vehicle was removed from a parking space in the second block of Rehoboth Avenue and subsequently reported stolen.  Police located and recovered the truck that same day just after 7:30am in the parking lot of the Royal Farms in the 400 block of Rehoboth Avenue.  The vehicle and its contents were valued at nearly $80,000.

Parker was arrested and charged with 1 count of felony theft of a motor vehicle.

Parker was arraigned and released on $2000.00 unsecured bail.

The Rehoboth Beach Police Department is proud of the hard work and dedication of our officers and remains grateful for the constant support of our community in our efforts to prevent and solve crime while bringing justice to victims.
