The new rates were recommended by the utility rates working group, formed by Mayor Paul Kuhns in January 2019. The group recommended a fair and equitable rate structure for implementation by the City which would cover anticipated costs for each system for the upcoming years. Rate increases are required for maintenance and rehabilitation of the water and wastewater systems as well as the debt repayment associated with the recently completed ocean outfall. These rates will replace the interim rates the commissioners approved in April 2019. The commissioners also committed to develop and implement a water conservation incentive program. For more information about the utility rates working group’s recommendations along with supporting documents, please visit cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net/Portal/.
