BEAR MAN CHARGED WITH DUI AFTER ROLL OVER COLLISION

Justin C. Anders, 39, of Bear, Del. was arrested Wednesday (08/01/18) evening after the vehicle he was driving collided with a parked car in the second block of Olive Avenue and rolled onto its roof. 

At around 9:30pm Rehoboth Beach Police were called to the second block of Olive Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision.  Upon arrival officers located Anders vehicle, a Chevrolet Sonic, flipped over on its roof in the roadway. Officers were able to determine that Anders vehicle had collided with a parked car, a Chevrolet Equinox with Delaware registration plates, prior to rolling onto its roof. Anders had left the scene, but witnesses were able to direct officers to the lobby of a nearby hotel where Anders was located. 

When contacted Anders showed signs of intoxication and was administered standardized field sobriety tests.  Anders was arrested and taken from the scene to Beebe Medical Campus for blood alcohol analysis.

No one was injured as a result of the collision; however, both vehicles involved were disabled.             

Anders was arrested and charged with 1 count of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, 1 count of reckless driving, 1 count of leaving the scene of a property damage collision, 1 count of failing to provide information at a property damage collision scene, 1 count of failing to report a collision to a police agency, 1 count of failure to have registration card in possession, 1 count of failure to have proof of insurance and 1 count of failure to comply with taking of photos and fingerprints.  None of the charges listed were felony level offenses. 

Anders was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $2000.00 secured bail.
