The Board of Commissioners will hold its monthly workshop meeting at 9 am Monday, September 9, on the second floor of City Hall. At 1 pm September 9, commissioners will hold a special meeting and are expected to meet in executive session to discuss legal matters.

The City of Rehoboth Beach has released the first episode of Tedder Talks – Rehoboth Beach, a monthly video program that features City Manager Taylour Tedder interacting with city staff and community members to share information about city programs and community efforts. The nearly eight-minute

August program, which introduces efforts related to enhanced transparency and focuses on the Rehoboth Beach Patrol, is available on the city’s YouTube channel.

“I started a Tedder Talks monthly video program when I was city manager in Boulder City,” Tedder says. “It was well-received and served as a great tool to provide information about people and issues impacting the city. We thought we’d try it here as a fresh, friendly way for the community to receive information.”

Residents and viewers may share comments about Tedder Talks – Rehoboth Beach and general feedback for the city manager via the city’s Reach Out Rehoboth engagement platform. Comments can be shared via the Talk to CM Taylour Tedder tool on the Hot Topics page.

The city has contracted with W Films to produce the monthly programs. The September episode will focus on code enforcement.

City of Rehoboth Beach voters have elected Craig Thier and Suzanne Goode to the Board of Commissioners. Thier and Goode will be sworn in at the September 20 commissioners meeting.

Today at the convention center, 652 voters cast ballots in person with another 495 voters participating via absentee ballot. Each voter was able to vote for up to two candidates. A total of 1,655 voters were registered for the 2024 municipal election.

Paris isn’t the only place where fierce Olympic competition is taking place. Last week, some 200 lifeguards representing a dozen beach patrols from Sussex County and Ocean City, Maryland, competed in the 47th annual Rehoboth Beach Patrol Lifeguard Olympics. And lifeguards from Delaware State Parks dominated, claiming the gold and bragging rights.

Lifeguards competed in 10 events July 25 on Rehoboth Beach. Events included runs and swims as well as paddle rescue, iron man medley, beach flags, and tug-of-war.

Rehoboth Beach Patrol’s Lt. Bryan Bowles notes of this year’s event: “The total team effort demonstrated by all those competing was inspiring. And the competition was intense with a hard-fought win by Delaware State Parks.”

Following Delaware State Parks, the top finishing beach patrols were:

Bethany Beach – second
Ocean City – third
Rehoboth Beach - fourth
Middlesex - fifth
