Second Street Improvement Project

The Second Street Improvement Project included the replacement of the sidewalk and curb ramps on the east side of Second Street between Baltimore and Maryland Avenues. The city’s project, supported by a $100,000 Community Transportation Fund grant, had long been a priority. The new sidewalk and curb ramps significantly improve safety for all users. New sidewalk construction began at the end of October 2018 and completed in December 2018. City Manager Sharon Lynn stated, “The city strives to create a more walkable community that is inviting and a safe pedestrian experience along this heavily traveled corridor. Our citizens’ safety is our first priority. Through these repairs, we’re continuing to take proactive measures to make a more walkable community, improve property values, and to improve the overall safety of the city.” Your patience and cooperation during the project were appreciated.
