TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST OF TWO FUGITIVES

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE (January 30th, 2016) Bruce E. Coverdale-Ricketts, 39 years old of Seaford, Del. and Walter C. Martz, 24 years old of Lewes, Del. were arrested on outstanding warrants following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Rehoboth Avenue on Sunday around 8:30am. In addition to having outstanding warrants, Coverdale-Ricketts was found to be in possession of hypodermic needles and marijuana. 

On Sunday at around 8:30am, Rehoboth Beach Police Officer performed a traffic stop on a red Ford Mustang after a registration check showed that the registered owner of the vehicle, Coverdale-Ricketts, had an active traffic warrant. Upon conducting the traffic stop, the officer discovered that the vehicle was being operated by Martz who had three active warrants in Delaware and one active warrant out of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for failing to appear in court for a DUI charge. Martz was also operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license. 

Coverdale-Ricketts, a passenger in the vehicle, had multiple hypodermic needles in his possession at the time of his arrest.  During a search of the red Ford Mustang officers found additional hypodermic needles and a bag containing approximately 14 grams of marijuana.    

Martz, pictured below, was arrested on the outstanding warrants and issued a traffic summons for 1 count of driving without a license.  Martz was arraigned on the outstanding warrants at the Justice of the Peace Court 3, issued a $500.00 secured bail and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution.

Coverdale-Ricketts, pictured below, was arrested on the outstanding warrant and charged with 1 count of delivery of hypodermic syringe and needle and 1 count of possession of marijuana of personal use quantity. Coverdale-Ricketts was arraigned at the Justice of the Peace Court 3, issued a $2000.00 unsecured bail and released.
