City of Rehoboth Beach Monitoring Hurricane Joaquin

Sep 30, 2015

The City of Rehoboth Beach is informing the public of a dangerous weather pattern developing for our region.

The City of Rehoboth Beach is monitoring the current path of Hurricane Joaquin. While we expect that the Rehoboth Beach community will experience some effects of the storm (wind, rain and possible flooding), it is too early to project exactly what impact we will see.

Over the last 24 hours the potential for a very high impact weather event has increased for Friday and Saturday, associated with the current storm system, and in advance of Hurricane Joaquin.  The latest track forecast from the National Hurricane Center shows the threat from Hurricane Joaquin in the Sunday/ Monday timeframe.

The City of Rehoboth Beach encourages residents and business owners to begin to prepare for any impact the storm may have on Rehoboth Beach. To begin preparing, citizens should build an emergency kit and make a family communication plan. For more information regarding storm preparedness, please visit http://www.ready.gov/hurricanes.

Please continue to monitor the City of Rehoboth Beach website for updated information on this storm. In addition, it is strongly recommended that residents sign up for the CodeRED emergency notification system (see our CodeRED page for more information). Daily updates will be broadcast to registered users starting Thursday and will continue through the weekend.
