Summer Parking

Parking meters are in effect from the Friday immediately preceding Memorial Day through the second Sunday following Labor Day, from 10 am until midnight. Change machines are available at 1st St. & Rehoboth Ave. and on the third block of Rehoboth Ave. (on the island across from City Hall). Change is also available at the Parking Meter Department a 30 1/2 Lake Ave. (behind City Hall). Meter rates are $1.25 to $1.50 per hour.

CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED ON THE FIRST TWO BLOCKS OF REHOBOTH AVENUE.

Handicap Parking

Those persons driving vehicles with a valid handicap plate or permit are required to pay for parking meters and parking permits while the meters and permits are in effect. If you need to rent a wheelchair, please visit Atlantic Cycles. Beach access ramps are located at Laurel St. and Maryland Ave. Beach Wheelchairs are available at those locations as well. Parking Permit Information

Parking permits are required daily from 10 am - 5 pm in all non metered areas within the city. Parking permits are in effect from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Parking Permits are available for sale at the following locations:

  • City Hall - 229 Rehoboth Avenue.
  • Parking Meter Division - 30 1/2 Lake Avenue (Behind City Hall).
  • Permits are available for purchase at check in time at several local Real Estate Offices.
  • Rehoboth Avenue coming into town after crossing the draw bridge.
  • Bayard Avenue coming into town after crossing over Silver Lake.

Park and Ride

If you'd like to avoid the traffic hassles and parking headaches in Delaware's resort areas, use DART First State's Park & Ride Lot located on Shuttle Rd. off of Delaware Rt. 1., north of Rehoboth Avenue.

Park for $7.00 and everyone in your car receives a free unlimited ride daily bus pass. All buses are air conditioned and equipped with wheelchair lifts. Ride in comfort on DART First State buses to the outlets, the boardwalk and beaches, even into Dewey Beach, Lewes or Ocean City, MD. With bus stops conveniently located throughout the resort area, you won't need to worry about where to park or how to get from one place to another. Parking Ticket

The Parking Meter Department is located on the North-West side of the Convention Center. You will have 72 Hours to pay your parking ticket from the time issued. There are also Fine Boxes located throughout the city.  Parking meter fines may be paid either in person at the parking meter department or by credit card over the phone 302-227-6184. There are no provisions to pay parking meter fines on the Internet.
