Summer Parking

Parking meters are in effect from the Friday immediately preceding Memorial Day through the second Sunday following Labor Day, from 10 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. (midnight). Change machines are available at the Bandstand on Rehoboth Avenue, First Street & Rehoboth Avenue, and the third block of Rehoboth Avenue (on the island across from City Hall), and at 306 Rehoboth Avenue (Building & Licensing). Change may also be obtained at the Parking Meter Department at 30 1/2 Lake Avenue (behind City Hall). Thirty minute parking meter rates are $1.00 per half an hour. All other parking meter rates are $1.50 per hour.

CREDIT CARDS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED AT ANY PARKING METER.

Handicap Parking

Those persons driving vehicles with a valid handicap plate or permit are required to pay for parking meters and parking permits while the meters and permits are in effect. If you need to rent a wheelchair, please visit Atlantic Cycles on Wilmington Avenue.

Beach wheels are available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day through Labor Day. They are located at Maryland Avenue and the Boardwalk, and Laurel Street and the Boardwalk.  Beach access ramps are located on these streets as well. They are located on the beach and cannot be removed from the beach. First come, first serve basis, with no rental fee.

Parking Permit Information

Parking permits are required daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in all non-metered areas within the city. Parking permits are in effect from the Friday before Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Parking Permits are available for sale at the following locations:

  • Parking Meter Division - 30 1/2 Lake Avenue (behind City Hall).
  • Permits are available for purchase at check-in time at several local Real Estate Offices.
  • Rehoboth Avenue coming into town after crossing the drawbridge.
  • Bayard Avenue coming into town after crossing over Silver Lake.

Parking Permit Fees

  • Seasonal Non-Transferable -$175.00
    (After August 1) -$88.00
  • Seasonal Transferable -$200.00
    (After August 1) -$100.00
  • Weekly -$45.00   (Eight Consecutive Days)
  • Three Day Weekend -$30.00   (Three consecutive days from Friday through Monday)
  • Weekend Daily -$13.00   (One Day Only, Saturday or Sunday)
  • Weekday Daily -$8.00   (One Day Only, Monday Thru Friday)

Park and Ride

If you'd like to avoid the traffic hassles and parking headaches in Delaware's resort areas, use DART First State's Park & Ride Lot located on Shuttle Road off of Delaware Rte. 1, north of Rehoboth Avenue.

Park for $8.00, and up to 4 occupants of the vehicle receive a free Daily Pass. All buses are air-conditioned and equipped with wheelchair lifts. Ride in comfort on DART First State buses to the outlets, the Boardwalk and beaches, even into Dewey Beach, Lewes or Ocean City, MD. With bus stops conveniently located throughout the resort area, you won't need to worry about where to park or how to get from one place to another. Parking Ticket

Payment may be mailed in the envelope provided or deposited in one of the courtesy drop boxes located throughout the city.  Please include the ticket number on the face of the check or money order. (DO NOT MAIL CASH.)
