  • General

We are excited about this time of redevelopment in our great city. Living, working and visiting the City of Rehoboth Beach will mean watching the vibrant transformation of Lake Avenue. With this project, the City will prepare for future growth in the downtown area, while embracing its rich history through the addition of features that mirror the City of Rehoboth Beach.

  • What is the construction schedule?

Construction for the Lake Avenue Streetscape Improvements Project is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 26, 2016, and will be completed by May 2017. Project construction will accommodate vehicular traffic, local access, and adjacent businesses. At all times during construction on-street parking is prohibited. The contractor will maintain one lane open in the easterly direction from Rehoboth Avenue during construction for local traffic and detours will be in place. This schedule may vary depending on things like the weather and delivery of materials and equipment. Construction work will occur Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

  • How will construction affect my business/residence?

The City’s contractor, Sam’s Construction, will work very hard to minimize inconveniences to businesses/residences due to construction. Businesses and residents will receive construction information through public meetings, one-on-one meetings, small group and organizational meetings, news media, social media email updates and this website. We will work with downtown merchants to have alternate plans in place prior to construction and to make sure that merchants and patrons are given notice of when and where construction will take place.

  • Will I always have access to my business/residence?

All businesses/residences will have access to their property during construction except during times when equipment, supplies and/or existing structures are being relocated. There will be no on-street parking during construction. The construction crew will work closely with business owners and residents to address concerns about access.
